Yo Club

⚓ A new generation of sailors

A new generation of sailors

You have probably noticed that most sailing chats descend into an argument within five minutes: who knows more, and what the correct way to tie a knot is. Yo Club is a sailing community without that — no posturing, no gatekeeping, no discrimination. It is for people who genuinely love being on the water and who value good seamanship, friendliness and mutual respect.

Membership is free. You can join as a student or as a skipper.

Yacht owners: host interesting, sensible people on board, and help us pilot NARWHAL, the yacht monitoring system we are building.

Blue Economy. We do not only enjoy the sea — we work to keep it worth enjoying for the generations after us.

Community projects

Films, regattas, voyages — every project starts as a conversation. Let us dream them up and build them together

What the club stands for

Everyone says a community is a force in itself, and that people together add up to more than the sum of them apart. We are trying to gather the people who share our values around sailing.

Mindful consumption and the sharing economy are in the DNA of this club.

Sail is the cleanest way to travel on water. We work to keep our footprint small and to hold sailing to environmentally sound standards.

Responsibility for the future of the oceans. The club takes part in ocean conservation efforts and argues for using the resources of the sea consciously.

Inclusion and equality. We are building a community where anyone can become part of the sailing world, whatever their experience, age or background.

We believe in learning continuously, and in keeping good education within reach of every member of the club.

We stand for a healthy, active life through sailing, watersports and travel.

Blue economy

We believe the future of sailing is inseparable from treating marine resources responsibly and supporting the ecosystems our voyages depend on.

Education first. People who become sailors start paying closer attention to the ocean and treating it with more care. That is what we teach at our school.

We are planning webinars, talks and workshops with people working in the blue economy, where club members can learn how sailing can be made cleaner and more sustainable:

Sharing economy

Sharing yachts and equipment so that fewer of them have to be bought in the first place

NARWHAL smart technology

Digital monitoring for yachts and marinas that cuts fuel and resource use. We are building it

Ecotourism

Our expeditions and trips are designed to tread lightly and to help conserve the places they visit

Sergey Butenko

Co-founder, school manager

Came into sailing out of nowhere, from IT, in 2015: moved to Phuket, bought a yacht called Hope, opened a school, brought in an instructor — and became a student at his own school, on his own boat. Has sailed all of Southeast Asia and gone from bareboat skipper to recreational instructor.

Anton Sazonov

Co-founder, tours and charter

More than 10 years and 10,000 miles under sail. In 2014 he launched Sails Up, a project the whole Russian sailing scene talked about. A Skolkovo graduate and a member of the legendary Skolkovo Sailing team.

Founder of the Yochting startup, which became part of Russia’s National Technology Initiative. Beyond sailing he is interested in the future, longevity and contemporary art.
